"Portrait Series"

Using a series of photos that I've taken of women artists, I recreate their presence in iconographic portrait installations. Each painting installation is a wall-size oil painting on canvas that has been deliberately nailed to the walls like a banner or tapestry. The artists persona is interpolated through the use of smaller panel paintings, sculpted fabric and found objects placed in proximity to the larger painting. Like room-sized dioramas, they create a physical bridge between the larger than life portrait and the viewer's personal space.
