"White Rabbit"

Created on traditional stretcher frames, "White Rabbit" is based on a photograph that I took while touring a temple in Kyoto, Japan. I came across two young women posing with the "peace out sign" for a photo that their mother was taking of them. Japan is "the land of cuteness" where the youth culture is obsessed with cute things ex. Hello Kitty, Pokemon and Pikachu. These young women defied that stereotype for me in their expressions. I painted a white rabbit at their feet to represent a mystical figure that leads to psychological discovery.
